News iconMELANIE'S 12 DAYS OF CHRISTMAS GIVEAWAY!
12 Dec 2008 // by Stefan // 0 Comments
Check this competition on the Melanie C Forum:

"To help spread the Christmas cheer, Melanie is giving away 12 days of presents!

Unlike the version you may know with partridges in pear trees and geese a-laying, we have some of Melanie’s most memorable items of clothing to give away. Whilst having an early spring clean before Red Girl Records moves in the New Year, Melanie found skirts from gigs, tops from videos and outfits from TV shows to name a few, and they could be yours!

From December 12th to 23rd there will be a prize a day on Melanie’s official MySpace. Simply answer the question and check back on Christmas Eve to see if you have bagged an extremely one-off gift.

You wish it could be Christmas everyday? For this coming week and a half...it could just be! Start getting VERY excited!

Click to see an over the top teaser of a vid (which was just crying out for the voice-over guy from X Factor, but you’re getting Melanie C’s actually worn clothes – what more do you want?!)

Melanie C backs Girlguiding UK members helping to tackle girl-on-girl bullying

Melanie C is supporting Girlguiding UK members all over the country as they take part in the Friendship Challenge in aid of the Mental Health Foundation - in a bid to stop girl-on-girl bullying.
For girls and young women, healthy friendships help to keep them mentally well and boost their self-esteem. But not all friendships are good for a girl's emotional wellbeing, and research shows that some types of bullying are more common among girls than boys.
With the help of Girlguiding UK members, the charity hopes to raise awareness about girl-on-girl bullying and any money raised will go towards ground-breaking research to find out why it happens and how to put a stop to it.
Girls and young women taking part in the Friendship Challenge will learn how to develop and maintain healthy friendships through a range of fun activities, and will be encouraged to reach out to other young people in their communities who may be lonely. There is also an opportunity to enter a national jewellery design competition and the winning design will be made into a real piece of jewellery!

Melanie C said:
"I'm really glad to be supporting the Friendship Challenge. Bullying leads to people feeling sad and lonely and so the sooner we can put a stop to it, the better."
Celia Richardson, Campaigns Director at the Mental Health Foundation, said:
"We are delighted that Melanie C is lending her support to the Friendship Challenge to highlight the importance of good friendship. Bullying is a problem that many girls and women living in Britain experience and it can have lasting negative effects on an individual’s emotional wellbeing and self-esteem."

The Mental Health Foundation, which works to help everybody enjoy good mental health, is one of 19 charities working in partnership with Girlguiding UK as part of the Girlguiding UK: Changing the World project. News iconMAKEOVER FOR IGGLEPIGGLE BY MEL C
23 Nov 2008 // by Stefan // 0 Comments
Melanie C was amongst UK celebrities, who took part of the 2008 BBC Children in Need charity auction called "Do Something Different". They each have designed a new look for the children's character "Igglepiggle" from the CBeebies pre-school show "In The Night Garden", which have been auctioned off for the charity on eBay on November 12th.

"It’s Robbie Williams Igglepiggle, circa 1996! No, of course not, it's Melanie C, formerly of the Spice Girls. His red blanket appears to have been replaced by the middle section of a Rothko painting. Maybe she ballsed it up and had to scribble all over it. What would Dr Linda make of that?"

News iconPEREZ HILTON TALKS ABOUT MEL
07 Nov 2008 // by Stefan // 0 Comments
"HE’S the man the celebrities love ... or love to hate. But however his A-list targets feel about Perez Hilton, probably the most famous internet blogger in the world, they can’t ignore him.

Because when he posts on his perezhilton.com site, millions click to log on to the latest showbiz gossip accompanied by Perez’s trademark bitchy comments.

On Thursday night, he will be reporting live from Liverpool, casting a critical eye over proceedings on the ECHO arena red carpet as the stars arrive for the MTV Europe Music Awards.

He’s already landed in the city to get some sightseeing in before the event.

“I’ve come here early so, hopefully, I’ll be able to wander about and see where all the action’s at. I’ve never been to Liverpool before so I had no impression of what it would be like,” he admits. “The only thing I knew before was that it’s where the Beatles came from and it’s City of Culture – which I like because I love culture.”

His only other Liverpool link comes through a certain Spice Girl, who Perez has got to know on the celebrity circuit.

“I love Melanie C, she’s so talented and I’ve always been a big supporter of her,” he says. “Of all the Spice Girls I think she’s the only one really making any music and I’m thrilled that she’s having a baby now.

“Her career may not be at its Spice Girls height, but her personal life is probably at its highest point ever and I’m really happy for her about that.”

Luckily for Melanie, she’s one of the famous names who’s not been on the receiving end of Perez’s notoriously sharp tongue (or keyboard, to be precise)."

News iconNOT GETTING MARRIED
05 Nov 2008 // by Stefan // 0 Comments
Posted on The Sun today (check some photos from the show below the article, thanks to Dennis "mcrulesme"):

"MEL C insists she won’t rush down the aisle just because she’s pregnant.

It had been claimed the former SPICE GIRL wanted to be a married woman before welcoming her first nipper into the world.

But speaking on the Paul O’Grady Show – coincidentally guest-hosted by her ex-bandmate MEL B – the singer said she’ll marry property developer THOMAS STARR when the time feels right for them.

And she laughed off rumours VICTORIA BECKHAM was on board to organise the ceremony.

She said: “I know there’s been a lot of things written recently saying I’m getting married and they’ve said the date and the church and that Victoria’s organising it, but, no, we’ve got no plans.

“But, you know, we say we’ll get married one day but just not at the moment.

“I’ve always wanted to have children and it’s just never been the right time for me. You have your path in life and you just follow it.”

KIM CATTRALL also appeared on the show - and confirmed there will be a second Sex and the City film."
