News iconSPICE GIRLS FOR MANDELA BIRTHDAY GIG?
17 Feb 2008 // by Stefan // 0 Comments
Organisers of Nelson Mandela's 90th birthday celebrations have started negotiations with the Spice Girls to play one final gig in his honour.
The girl band recently cut short their reunion world tour, and Posh Spice Victoria Beckham said earlier this month that she was finished with the music industry.
However, officials believe the girls may be tempted to perform together one final time in tribute to the former president of South Africa.
A source told The Mirror: "Nelson is desperate for them to perform one last time - and he's confident it will happen.
"He first met the Spices in 1997 and called them his 'heroes', so he has deep admiration for them."
Other stars rumoured to be playing the concert include Jay-Z, Robbie Williams, The Rolling Stones and Rihanna.
The event takes place in London's Hyde Park in June.

News iconMEL ON NEW YORK SHOWS AND HER SOLO PERFORMANCE
13 Feb 2008 // by Stefan // 0 Comments
Melanie C wrote a message on TheSpiceGirls.com:

"Hi Guys,

Melanie C reporting from Spiceworld NYC. We are having a ball in the Big Apple. It's freezin' so we're all keeping wrapped up!!!

The shows are still going great. We had two stormers in Long Island and now we're rockin' New Jersey. It's fun being back in the US. The audiences are just as bonkers as back home!

I played a solo gig on February 9th at the Manhattan Center's Grand Ballroom. It was amazing. We did a 60 minute acoustic set of songs from all four of my solo albums. Emma, Mel, Geri and lots of crew & dancers from the Spice tour came along to support me. I felt very special – especially with all the gifts I received from the crowd. So, thanks to all of you for that.

Back to being Sporty now! We've had an amazing time on the tour and we really can't thank you enough. We're truly sorry to those of you we never got the chance to see.

Stay Spicy

Love Melanie C x x"

News iconBID FOR A SIGNED CALENDAR
05 Feb 2008 // by Stefan // 0 Comments
From the Official Melanie C Forum:
"Don't miss your chance to bid on an exclusive piece of signed Melanie C memorabilia and help raise money for charity at the same time.
The Charity Network produced another calendar for 2008, which sold out with pre-orders alone so thanks to everyone who bought a copy and hopefully you're enjoying what's left of the January page!
Backstage at the Spice Girls show at the o2 in London recently, Melanie very kindly took the time to sign 5 calendars which we have numbered and are currently up for bids at a charity auction on eBay.
These are purely one-off items and would be a fantastic addition to any collection, with all profit going to ours and Melanie's chosen charities - Rethink and The Christian Lewis Fund, so please be generous with your bids.
Thank you for your continued support and good luck!

P.S - have your concert photos of the return of Sporty Spice at the ready for the next Charity Network project - more details coming soon!"
News iconSTATEMENT REGARDING SPICE GIRLS TOUR
03 Feb 2008 // by Stefan // 0 Comments
Melanie C has left a statement on the Official Melanie C Forum:
"Melanie would like to make it perfectly clear that at no point has she refused to continue with the Spice Girls Tour.
She is very disappointed that the tour isn't continuing at this stage and, as she does not have the family commitments of the other Girls, she is in the best position of all of them to continue.
Any accusation that it was Melanie's reluctance to continue the tour that has brought about this situation is absolutely false."
News iconSPICE GIRLS WORLD TOUR ENDS IN TORONTO
02 Feb 2008 // by Stefan // 0 Comments
From TheSpiceGirls.com:
Sadly the tour needs to come to an end by the end of February due to family and personal commitments for Emma, Geri, Mel B, Melanie C and Victoria. It was announced in June that, as well as the Europe and the US, the girls planned to visit Australia, China, South Africa and Argentina. Due to the phenomenal demand for tickets in the UK and the US along with the touring logistics for such a massive production it was not possible to fit everything in. As the girls return to normal family life and the kids go back to school they are reviewing all the options, who knows what the future might bring!
The girls said: “We’ve had such an amazing time over the last 3 months. It’s been incredible being back together and seeing our fans again. We want to thank everyone who came to see us. It was all so mad the first time round, so we’ve really been able to appreciate it properly this time. There have been so many highlights and good times that we know it will be hard to be apart after Toronto. Really sorry if we didn’t get to see you this time round. We all have other commitments in our lives now but who knows what will happen next.”

News iconSPICE GIRLS COMPETITION WINNER
01 Feb 2008 // by Stefan // 0 Comments
From TheSpiceGirls.com:
Our website winner Adam from Birmingham (on right) met The Spice Girls before one of their final London shows earlier this month and he told us afterwards: “It was one of the best experiences of my life, thank you.”
Adam and his guest Simon were whisked backstage before the show to meet the girls and to have a picture taken with them. “Emma was absolutely lovely, she grabbed me straight away and gave me a kiss and then I had a chat with Melanie C. While we were having the picture taken I asked Victoria if she was going to smile and she joked: ‘You know Posh Spice doesn’t smile’. But as soon as the photograph was taken she turned and gave me a big grin.
“It was brilliant seeing the show after meeting them too. We had seats right by the stage and Mel B blew Simon a kiss from the stage while Melanie C gave me a nod and a smile.”
