News iconMEL SHOWS HER BUMP AT A PRIVATE GIG IN GERMANY
15 Sep 2008 // by Stefan // 0 Comments
Translated from the German newspaper article "Hannoversche Allgemeine Zeitung" released today:

"On friday night Spice Girl Melanie Chisholm ("Mel C", 34) presented herself in Hannover for the first time in public since announcing her pregnancy. The popstar performed "on the night to saturday" (friday/saturday) around 0:30 at the employees party of HDI-Gerling property insurance in front of almost 5000 attendances on the Hannover trade fair grounds. The singer wore pumps (shoes), a black loose-fitting dress, which showed a recognizable tummy, and sang ten songs. On the 22nd August "Sporty Spice" confirmed rumors about a pregnancy on her website: "I can now announce, that Tom and i are expecting a baby and we are very happy." The father of the child is her long-term partner, constructor Thomas Starr."

News iconCARRIE GRANT SPEAKS ABOUT MEL
13 Sep 2008 // by Stefan // 0 Comments

Carrie Grant says Mel C is looking "gorgeous" now she is 18-weeks pregnant.

The former 'Fame Academy' vocal coach - who has been close friends with the Spice Girls star for 10 years - says the 34-year-old singer is blooming after announcing she is expecting her first child with partner Thomas Starr.

Speaking at the premiere of Disney Channel Original Movie 'Camp Rock' at London's Royal Festival Hall last night (10.09.08), Carrie told BANG Showbiz: "I saw her for lunch yesterday and she looks gorgeous. She is at about 18 weeks now, and I think both Melanie and Tom will make amazing parents."

Carrie also revealed she thinks Mel's child will have an abundance of designer clothes to choose from, thanks to her Spice Girls bandmates Geri Halliwell, Victoria Beckham, Emma Bunton and Mel B.

She added: "Well, if you are going to have hand-me-downs then that's the band to be in!"

However, Carrie said despite her close friendship with the singer, she is unlikely to be offered the position of godmother to the unborn baby, adding: "I think there are a lot of people in line before me!"

News iconINTERVIEW: BEING A MOTHER IS THE SPICE OF LIFE!
12 Sep 2008 // by Stefan // 0 Comments

SPICE Girl Mel C today spoke of her excitement about becoming a mother for the first time.

Melanie, the last member of the all-conquering girl band to have a baby, said she could not wait to have a child of her own. Sporty Spice, real name Melanie Chisholm, and her partner-of-six years Thomas Starr, announced the news last month. The mother-to-be from Merseyside told the ECHO her ex-bandmates had offered her wise words on raising kids. But she said she was getting all her baby advice from her mother Joan O’Neill, and has no plans to relocate to America to raise her child like Victoria Beckham did.

The 34-year- old said: “The girls are made up for me, there were lots of squeals. They said they're only a phone call away to pass on any parenting tips. We are all very happy. My mum has looked forward to having grandchildren and she is very excited. I’m so happy she will be there to guide and advise me.”

Melanie, who is originally from Rainhill and grew up in Widnes, sparked rumours she may be pregnant when she wore a blue floaty dress at the concert for Rhys Jones in Liverpool last month. She said: “We found out a while ago, I’m due early next year. I was starting to show when I performed at the ECHO arena and I was a bit self conscious about that. I knew I would be showing a bit by then but I wasn’t ready to tell the world.
We’ve already started talking about baby names. We will be happy if we have a boy or a girl and we won’t find out before.”

Melanie’s former band members have seven children between them. Melanie refused to deny rumours she was planning to marry, but told fans to check her website for future announcements. She will perform at Manchester’s Hard Rock Cafe on October 9, before taking time off. Melanie is supporting the Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation’s latest fundraising drive by donating the shoes she wore at the announcement of the Spice Girls reunion tour for the De-Feet auction. Her black suede high heels with peep toe by Carvela are among a host of celebrities’ footwear which go up for grabs today.
Melanie, who is a patron of the foundation, said: "There are some fabulous donations from Dame Judi Dench, Christopher Biggins, Lorraine Kelly and Gary Barlow. I’m hoping to get Emma Bunton, Bryan Adams and David Beckham involved. I would go for Lewis Hamilton’s shoes for my brother, Paul O’Neill, because he is a racing driver."

News iconMEL C'S SPICE SNUB
03 Sep 2008 // by Stefan // 0 Comments
Pregnant Mel C won't take parenting tips from the other Spice Girls - because she only trusts her mother.

The singer - who announced last month she was expecting her first child with her partner of six years, property developer Thomas Starr - admits the girls have all been phoning her and offering their best baby advice but she isn't interested.
She said: "The girls are made up for me and have all offered to guide and advise me. But I'm sticking with my mum. She's my best friend and you don't get any better than that."

Although she was surrounded by children on the Spice Girls reunion world tour, 34-year-old Mel insists she never got broody and was as shocked as anyone when she found out she was expecting.
She added to Britain's New! magazine: "I used to love the fact that I was the only Spice Girl who didn't need to lug around loads of baby stuff. Mad, innit? Me a mum!"

Mel's baby will be the eighth child born to the Spice Girls.
Geri Halliwell has a two-year-old daughter, Bluebell, while Victoria Beckham has three sons, Brooklyn, nine, Romeo, five, and Cruz, three. Mel B has two girls, Phoenix Chi, nine, and Angel Iris, 16 months, while Emma Bunton has a baby son, Beau Lee.

Mel recently revealed she will be taking a break from her solo music career to prepare for motherhood.
She said: "I will be taking it easy but am also excited to start writing for the fifth album. I will need to take some time off to be a parent but, before you know it, I'll be back."

News iconMELANIE IS EXPECTING A BABY
22 Aug 2008 // by Stefan // 0 Comments
Several worldwide media reports from today say that Melanie is expecting a baby. Well read this message from her official website:

"Hi Everyone
Some Happy News!
Well, I can now announce that Tom and I are expecting a baby and we are very happy.
As I'm sure you'll understand we needed time to wait for results and tell our families. Thank you for all your kindness, good wishes and support (even if it was based on speculation!).
You all know how much I value my privacy so I'm sure I can rely on you to respect that, particularly at this time.
I will be taking it easy but am also excited to start writing for the fifth album. I'll need some time off to be a mum but, before you know it, we'll be back.
Also, check back on the site over the next week or so... Uncles Paul, Greg, Nick, Scott, Vinnie (and me) are planning a UK gig somewhere 'up north' for a great cause (rocking out is not easy at the moment so it'll be a full band acoustic gig).
Love
Melanie xx"

Congratulations to Melanie & Thomas!
Media iconTORONTO PRIDE VIDEO
21 Aug 2008 // by Stefan // 0 Comments
The Canadian site Dear Toronto has uploaded a video of Melanie performing at the Toronto Pride. The video features her performances of "Understand" and "When You're Gone".

"June's Pride Week in Toronto has come and gone, but we're still drowning in a ton of fun video from the weekend's music events and other performances. Among a mob of other photographers, we got up close with former Spice Girl Mel C as she performed to a packed ground on the Wellesley stage. Crazy factoid: many of the girls in the front of this very hyped-up crowd came from the US, Europe and beyond to see her perform!"
